Our Story
Built in Brooklyn. 1999.
Inspired by Grenada.
The Founder
EMT by Day. Designer by Night.
Bashy USA was built in Brooklyn in 1999 — shaped by the streets, the culture, and the energy that only those blocks can produce. From day one it was something different: street-meets-luxury, urban without apology, fashion that led instead of followed.
Behind the brand was a man who lived two lives. By day, Bashy was an EMT — running toward emergencies while the rest of the world stepped back. By night, he poured that same fearless energy into Bashy USA, threading together the raw edge of Brooklyn and the vibrant pride of Grenada, the island that inspired his soul.
When the towers fell on September 11, 2001, Bashy didn't hesitate. He volunteered at Ground Zero — breathing in the air, working the site, doing what he always did: showing up for his city.
That decision would cost him everything. In the years that followed, he fought a battle against 9/11-related illness — a fight that lasted over two decades. He never stopped designing. He never stopped believing in what this brand could be.
He never stopped believing. And we are continuing his story.
Brooklyn, New York — Bashy USA. 1999.
The Industry Knew
Three Names. Three Co-Signs.
Kenneth Cole. Russell Simmons. Oscar de la Renta.
Kenneth Cole · To Bashy · 2004
Russell Simmons · To Bashy USA
Oscar de la Renta · Bashy USA
In 2004, Kenneth Cole personally inscribed a photo to Bashy. His words: "Stay Always Aware." The founder of one of America's most iconic fashion houses — putting his signature next to Bashy USA.
Russell Simmons — the man who built Def Jam and Phat Farm, who defined what hip-hop fashion could be — wrote to Bashy directly: "God Bless You. Go For It." The godfather of the culture, telling Bashy to push forward.
And Oscar de la Renta — the man who dressed First Ladies, royalty, and the most celebrated women on the planet — put his name beside Bashy USA too. Three of the most powerful names in fashion. All three recognized what was being built.
Fashion royalty doesn't sign just anything. They sign what they respect. The brand was never underground because it lacked quality. It was underground because the world wasn't ready. The relaunch isn't a comeback. It's a correction.

Rain or Shine
Before the relaunch. Before the collection. Before any of it — Bashy was on a field in Brooklyn every Sunday, coaching kids aged 5 to 10 in the sport he loved most: soccer.
He started a soccer team in Brooklyn and gave his Sundays to it for years. No charge. No agenda. Every week, those kids were at Prospect Park — rain or shine. Bashy was there. No exceptions.
He kept those children busy. He pushed the sport he loved. He built something on that field that had nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with who he was: a man who gave back without being asked, without recognition, without stopping.
That's the Bashy the brand carries. Not just the designer. Not just the EMT. The coach. The community man. The one who showed up every Sunday at Prospect Park because the kids needed him there.
His Legacy
March 11, 1971 — November 25, 2024.
Bashy was born on March 11, 1971. He lost his fight on November 25, 2024 — 54 years lived with purpose, courage, and creativity. He was an EMT, a Ground Zero volunteer, a Brooklyn original, a son of Grenada, and the visionary behind this brand.
He is one of thousands whose lives were taken not on September 11th itself, but in the years of illness that followed. His name belongs alongside every first responder who gave everything for this city.
The 9/11 Collection is our tribute. 54 exclusive pieces — one for every year he lived. Every stitch carries his spirit. Every purchase carries his name forward.
Giving Back
50% of Proceeds Support Children 21 and Younger.
Fifty percent of every dollar from the 9/11 Collection goes directly to children 21 and younger who lost parents to 9/11-related illnesses. This honors the thousands of first responders and volunteers, like Bashy, who answered the call and paid for it with their lives in the years that followed.
These children grew up without their parents. Some lost them on that Tuesday morning. Others watched them fight for years — through illness, through treatments, through a slow goodbye — before losing them too. Every single one of them deserves to know they haven't been forgotten.
Bashy was one of those parents. He showed up at Ground Zero because that's who he was. This giveback is his final act of service — and it belongs to every family that sacrifice touched.
